Through the Howardian Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, to one of England's grandest Baroque houses. The road climbs through mixed woodland and open farmland, with views east to the North York Moors. Castle Howard's Great Avenue — a mile-long approach lined with oaks — leads to Vanbrugh's Great Hall.
