“"Ferrari F8 on Elm Hill at 6am — the red against the timber frames and cobblestones. 1.8 million views on Instagram. Norwich is one of the best-kept secrets in automotive photography. The medieval streets are extraordinary."”

Norwich Cathedral (NR1 4DH) dates from 1096 — the Norman arches, 315-foot spire (second tallest in England), and the largest monastic cloisters in England create a setting of extraordinary architectural weight. The Cathedral Close is one of the largest in England, with open space for vehicle positioning against Romanesque stonework. Morning light from the east illuminates the main elevation. The two-storey cloisters provide covered walkway compositions with vehicles framed through medieval arches — a perspective impossible to replicate elsewhere in East Anglia.

Elm Hill is Norwich's most photographed street — medieval cobblestones, timber-framed buildings rebuilt after a fire in 1507, overhanging upper storeys, and independent shop fronts. A supercar on Elm Hill's cobbles creates the contrast between modern engineering and 500-year-old streetscape that drives editorial and social engagement. Early morning access before shops open provides the cleanest compositions. The street is pedestrianised, which simplifies vehicle positioning with appropriate permission.

Pull's Ferry (NR1 4DD) is a 15th-century flint watergate on the River Wensum — originally used to transport stone from Caen for the Cathedral's construction. The medieval archway, flint walls, and river reflections create intimate compositions. A vehicle positioned on the approach with the watergate framing the background delivers images with genuine historical depth. Golden hour light reflecting off the Wensum doubles the visual impact.

Cathedral Close, Elm Hill, and Pull's Ferry provide a medieval city portfolio within walking distance. Norwich's architectural density — Romanesque, medieval timber, Victorian, modern glass — offers more variety per square mile than most English cities.

“"Rolls-Royce at Pull's Ferry for a bridal editorial. The watergate, the Wensum reflections, the Cathedral spire visible behind. Our client used the images across their entire 2025 campaign."”
Norwich Cathedral Close (NR1 4DH) — accessed from Tombland. The Close provides multiple angles: west front with spire, cloisters for framed compositions, and the green for wider fleet shots. Dean and Chapter office coordinates photography permits. Best light: morning east-facing elevation, afternoon cloisters.
Elm Hill — pedestrianised street accessed from Wensum Street. Early morning (before 8am) provides the best window for vehicle positioning. Norwich City Council manages access permissions. The cobblestones, overhanging buildings, and Briton's Arms (medieval thatched building) provide distinctive foreground elements.
Pull's Ferry (NR1 4DD) — accessed via Riverside Walk. The narrow approach path limits vehicle size — sports cars and GT models work best. River Wensum reflections strongest at low wind conditions. Combine with Cathedral Close (5-minute walk) for a two-location morning session.
Additional locations: Norwich Castle approach and Castle Meadow, The Forum at Millennium Plain, Assembly House (NR2 1RQ, Georgian facade on Theatre Street), Plantation Garden (hidden Victorian garden), and the Riverside Walk along the Wensum.
